Prom Recitals is thrilled to host the internationally renowned Stuttgart Youth Chamber Orchestra, performing direct from Germany as part of their Australian tour.
The concert will be held on Sunday, 10 August 2025 at the Foster War Memorial and Arts Centre. Doors open at 2:00 pm for a 2:30 pm start.
Founded in 1960, the Stuttgart Youth Chamber Orchestra is one of Germany’s most distinguished youth ensembles. Now part of the Stuttgart Music School, the orchestra brings together exceptional young musicians aged 12 to 20 – all of whom are prize-winners in national and international competitions.
This is your opportunity to experience an international orchestral performance right here in South Gippsland. Under the direction of Michael Böttcher, the orchestra will perform a dynamic and moving program, including Henry Purcell (1659–1695) From “Abdelazar” – I. Ouverture · II. Rondeau · IX. Air, Edward Elgar (1857–1937) Serenade in E minor for String Orchestra, Op. 20, Michael Nyman (b. 1944) De l’hôtel de la ville à la Concorde, Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840–1893) Serenade in C major for String Orchestra, Op. 48. And an audience favourite: Bernard Herrmann (1911–1975) Suite from the movie “Psycho” – performed in full orchestral arrangement.
