South Gippsland Landcare Network and South Gippsland Shire Council are partnering with Arawata Landcare Group to plant 1500 indigenous trees, shrubs and grasses by the side of the Great Southern Rail Trail.

Our fabulous friends from Leongatha Rotary and Leongatha Lions Club will provide a tasty lunch afterwards.

This event has been made possible by the generous donations from the South Gippsland Seed Bank and SGLN Koala Fund.

27 July 2025, 10am-2pm

We’ll meet at Ruby Hall and make our way by bike or guided walking bus to the planting site, about 1.5 km along the trail. We’ll learn about the native plants and animals already living along the rail trail as we walk. At the planting site, there will be plant guards to decorate, which will not only protect our seedlings from browsing animals but also form an outdoor art gallery.
