Walkerville, famous for its historic Lime Kilns, is one of South Gippsland’s hidden delights. Spend hours exploring the coastline of rock pools and little sandy coves, enjoy walking, fishing, swimming or simply relaxing.

Walkerville is situated 180 kilometres south east of Melbourne. It is reached from South Gippsland Highway at Meeniyan, by following the Meeniyan-Promontory Rd and the Fish Creek-Walkerville Rd. The historic lime kilns are located on the beach at Walkerville South, accessible from the Loop Road.

The lime kilns were once a very important source of material for Melbourne’s building industry. Limestone was mined and processed at Walkerville, then transported to Melbourne for use in major building projects.
