Kongwak lies in a valley, the Valley of Peace, and has the remains of a more prosperous past in the form of an old butter factory and general store. The latter is the site for the quite well renowned weekly Sunday market.
Koonwarra is a picturesque village proud of its pioneers and now a leader in environmental innovations.
The Koonwarra Bushland Reserve contains a number of walks that showcase a wide range of flora and fauna. The reserve is significant for conservation purposes.
Surrounded by trees and bushland it is one of the most picturesque grounds in Gippsland. It is located along the South Gippsland Rail Trail and is the home to The Koonwarra Leongatha RSL Cricket Club and the Koonwarra Tennis club.
