As Autumn settles over South Gippsland, the region comes alive with golden days and crisp evenings. Labour Day Long Weekend launches the Autumn events calendar in style, with jam packed celebrations.

Embrace the changing colours of Autumn at the Welshpool & District Autumn Artistry Flower Show from 2pm Friday 6 until 4pm Saturday 7 March. Plant sales at the on-site Club Nursery and wonderful country style refreshments promise to please.

Friday 6 – Monday 9 March Loch and District 150th Anniversary will be proudly marked across the entire weekend, celebrating generations of heritage, resilience and community spirit. Saturday, the unveiling of a commemorative seat, a sports afternoon, then some trivia at the Hall that night. Sunday, the Loch Lions Market and old machinery display. Monday, the celebrations will conclude with a school reunion.

Pre-show dinners at Trulli can be booked online (seating from 5:30pm) on each of the four show nights.

Arts Hub at Meeniyan Town Hall and Trulli. Art takes centre stage at Meeniyan – over four days, Lyrebird presents four shows at the Meeniyan Town Hall: Sarah Blasko Thursday 5 March, (6 March sold out), M. Ward & The Undertakers (USA) Saturday 7 March, Willie Watson and band (USA) on Sunday 8 March.

Trulli hosts art displays by local artists across the weekend, plus an Artist networking event on Saturday 7 March from 4pm.

Coal Creek Living Heritage Day – Step back in time with its much loved Heritage Days, held on the first Saturday of each month from 7 March. With the welcome addition of a food vendor, these immersive sessions promise a rich blend of history, atmosphere and local flavour, making it a must do autumn experience. FREE Guided tours.

“Simply the Best” Rebecca O’Connor as Tina Turner, delivers a high energy live music show at the Riverview Hotel, Tarwin Lower on Saturday 7 March.

On Sunday 8 March, the Ladbrokes Stony Creek Cup draws racing enthusiasts from across the nation for the region’s premier horse racing event. Enjoy live music and lunch under the gum trees or take home first prize for Fashions on the Field.

There’s a vibrant mix of Community Markets dotted throughout the region at Toora, Fish Creek, Koonwarra and Kongwak as well as the Long Weekend special editions of Foster Produce & Craft Market on Sunday 8 March and Tarwin Lower Market on Monday 9 March.

Make some time to visit one of the many Art Galleries or Exhibitions at Stockyard Gallery in Foster, Leongatha Art and Craft Gallery, Meeniyan Art Gallery or Art Lives Here at Coal Creek in Korumburra.  The unique Artcubes around South Gippsland are showcasing works by local artists at Venus Bay Community Centre and Saggasser Park Toora.
