Leongatha Memorial Hall celebrates 100 years as our special meeting place.
Join the celebration of the centenary of the Leongatha Memorial Hall on Saturday 15 August 2026.
The Memorial Hall will be open from 10.30am for the public to view the honour rolls and the displays of photographs and memorabilia showing events that have taken place in the hall for the past 100 years. There will be 1920s classic cars parked in Michael Place to add to the occasion. A re-creation of one of the murals that were in the hall until the 1960s will be unveiled.
At 1.15 pm the formal celebration will start with the band playing and actor Bruce Grainger taking the role of Brigadier General Harold ‘Pompey” Elliott who officially opened the hall in 1926. Six children will lay wreaths at a cenotaph on the stage and all from the former Woorayl Shire who served in The Great War 1914-18 will be remembered.
