The Leongatha Historical Society will be holding a Magic Lantern Show on Saturday 11 May at 7.30 pm at Meeting Room One, Leongatha Memorial Hall.
In the days before movies Magic Lanternists would move around the countryside putting on performances in local halls. Magic Lanterns were a form of slide projector, and large coloured slides were used to tell stories, news and pictures of other places in the world.
John Hyett of the Leongatha Historical Society has a large collection of slides and will select some of these to entertain the audience with a show from days gone by.
