In South Gippsland, rug up and set out on a coastal adventure in search of some of the ocean’s most magnificent travellers. From now to November, Humpback and Southern Right Whales migrate along the coastline, creating unforgettable opportunities to witness these giants of the sea in their natural environment.

For a closer encounter, join a specialised whale-watching cruise departing from Tidal River with Wanderer Adventures (from June til October) or from Port Welshpool with Wildlife Coast Cruises (from July to November) and experience the thrill of spotting whales from the water.

Prefer to stay on land? Grab your binoculars and turn your whale spotting into a scenic coastal journey, with prime viewing locations at Venus Bay, the Cape Liptrap Lighthouse lookout, Ned Neale’s Lookout at Sandy Point, and Glennie Lookout and Pillar Point in Wilsons Promontory National Park. Every vantage point offers the chance for an exciting wildlife sighting and a spectacular coastal view.
